Blog Post #13: More Love, Less Demons

Everyone is saying they are on ‘demon time’ and it’s difficult to determine who started this trend. I googled it and so many songs came up, it was overwhelming. I associate ‘demon time’ as a type of evil, selfish act. I hear it and think ‘uh oh’ and ‘bad vibes’ so I’m curious to know, what comes to your mind when you hear the phrase ‘demon time’ and why?


During Joe Biden’s Inauguration speech, he said “Racism and demonization has torn us apart for too long… Stop the shouting and lower the temperature.” “Its time for boldness,” said Biden, and I believe that I was put on this earth to be bold.

We all have issues sometimes referred to as demons, but I don’t get why we celebrate our demons (as if they gave us life or something). Demon time sounds like depression time to me, and I wish we weren’t so quick as consumers to popularize these narratives (especially in pop culture).

Maybe one day we’ll look back at the swinging bottles of cough syrup and #demontime hashtags and have a fresher perspective. I just feel like I know overrated when I see it and this phrase is definitely in my top 10 of trends/phrases I wish never existed. If you ask me, demon time is what got us in this mess in the first place. Next!
